Traineeship Description:

The trainee will report directly to the Project Lead and work closely with his teammates.

Specific Responsibilities:
  • Maintain Quality Management Systems (QMS) & co-ordinate external certification and surveillance audit to ascertain company’s compliance with the AS9100 Standard.
  • Work closely with Project teams to establish practices and procedures to achieve the company’s quality objectives.
  • Ensure the project teams are observing contamination control, electrostatic discharge (ESD) precautions and QA records properly kept.
  • Perform Quality Control (QC) during the satellite development cycle and including overseas test campaign.
  • Facilitate and monitor supplier's quality and product issues.
  • Conduct failure analysis on failures encountered during satellite design and development cycle and work with project team to identify root cause and implement corrective/preventive actions.
  • Carry out reliability analysis for the satellite to evaluate the reliability impact of different design solutions
Competencies to learn:
  • Able to work on the audit findings with the auditees and close the finding within the stated period of time.
  • Able to analyse and observe trends in the non conformances or observations from the audits and provide recommendation to prevent the re-occurrence.
  • Able to evaluate the effectiveness of the quality assurance processes and recommend changes to improve the processes.
  • Able to evaluate the new components based on reliability, radiation, vibration and shock requirements.
  • Able to determine the level of contamination or propose methods to prevent foreign object debris in areas where the components, modules or the satellite system are in.
  • Able to recommend methods to reduce the risk of electro-static discharge (ESD) control on components, modules and on the satellite system.
  • Able to provide inputs to the QA deliverables documentation to customers.
  • Able to operate the failure analysis equipment and provide the failure analysis report.
  • Able to monitor the effectiveness of the corrective actions proposed by the project team members.
  • Able to evaluate the risk during Satellite Integration and testing and propose improvement to reduce the risk.
  • Able to conduct audit at the supplier's site without supervision and also conduct joint first article inspection with project team member on the supplier's shipped product.
  • Able to monitor and analyse trends in the suppliers' performance and recommend area of improvement.
  • Able to communicate the non conformances and work with the suppliers to determine the root cause and corrective actions to prevent the re-occurrence.
  • Able to evaluate the risk of counterfeit in the supplier's product and recommend ways to minimize it.
  • Able to seek proper approval in updating the documentation, control changes with version control and update the amendment record.
  • Able to control or propose improvement to the retention of records, prevention of improper use or loss of integrity.
  • Able to control obsolete documentation from accidentally use
  • Able to operate the Temperature Cycling oven to conduct the Environmental Stress Screening (Temperature Cycling) on the modules.
  • Able to plan the Random Vibration profile for the shaker when conducting Environmental Stress Screening (Random Vibration) on the modules.
  • Able to recognise defects on the solder joints or components when performing visual inspection.
  • Degree or Master in Electrical & Electronics Engineering or equivalent.
  • Possess good communication skills and a good team player
