Position Title: Assistant Principal Engineer (Marine Systems)

Roles & Responsibilities 

  • Lead a team in design and engineering of a project by planning and scheduling work.
  • Generate list of drawing/document specific to each project and ensure timely issue of drawings and documents.
  • Prepare technical specifications for equipment procurement (e.g. main equipment) and perform technical evaluation of vendor’s bid.
  • Review marine system piping and instrumentation diagrams (e.g. cooling, fuel oil systems) and HVAC drawings.
  • Prepare and review machinery layout arrangement.
  • Perform flow, pressure drop, heat transfer calculations, pipe stress analysis etc.
  • Manage and check technical information of external suppliers of equipment and systems and coordinate/cooperate with engineers from other trades in the organization.
  • Check and approve production drawings and material list and ensure that they conform to contractual technical specifications, installation control documents, Classification and Statutory Rules/Regulations.
  • Participate in tests and trials, where required.
  • Liaise with ship owners and surveyors.
  • Ensure that all design issues raised by owner, Class and Flag on drawings and documents are timely and properly captured in Action Item Register for follow-up actions.
  • At least 5-8 years’ experience in engineering design and/or Classifications Societies and/or as Sea-going Engineer (at least 2nd Engineer) and/or Naval Engineering Officer.
  • Has experience in building up strong Aveva Marine Outfitting database for design and engineering organization.
  • Have strong knowledge and a current practitioner of Aveva Marine Outfitting software.  
  • Has led team of engineers in detail and production design using Aveva Marine Outfitting software for at least 2 projects completion.
  • Strong articulation skills and leadership skills, can discuss and articulate well with Owner to resolve on site issues.
  • Strong knowledge of international design codes, Classification/Statutory Rules and Regulations.
  • Have knowledge of electrical and instrumentation systems
  • Possess engineering design project management skills
  • Software (mandatory): Aveva P&ID, Aveva Marine, Pipeflow Expert
  • Bachelor Degree in Mechanical/Marine Engineering

  • 5 days work week
  • Working Hours: 7.25am to 5.00pm
