Position Title: IT Business Analyst

The business analyst’s primary objective is to help businesses implement technology solutions in a cost effective way by accurately determining and understanding the requirements of business users in an IT project, and communicating them clearly to stakeholder, facilitator and partners. This includes formally well written requirements documentation, as well as informally through emails, memos and meetings.
One of the core skills of business analysts is requirements management – being able to understand and manage business users, helping them articulate their needs and distilling the into accurate and unambiguous requirement specifications that engineers can use to design and build real IT solutions
As a Business Analyst, you will take the lead role in:
  • Assisting users with the business case (whether the solution is worthwhile implementing or not)
  • Eliciting requirements
  • Requirements analysis
  • Structuring & organising the requirements
  • Translating and simplifying requirements
  • Requirements management and communication
  • Work with system assurance and test professionals to develop test cases that accurately and thoroughly tests the system against the requirements
The ideal candidate should possess:
  • Degree in Information Technology Management, Business Information Technology Management or equivalent.
  • Professional qualification in Business Analysis or Software Engineering preferred
  • At least 5 years’ experience in developing business analysis documentation for major IT systems 
  • Experience in use of requirements modelling tools such as Rational or Visual Paradigm would be an advantage
  • IT Project Management qualification or experience would be an advantage
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent technical writing skills
  • Good understand of systems engineering concepts
  • Knowledge of requirements documenting methodologies such as UML
  • Business modelling techniques and methods
  • Ability to conduct cost/benefits analysis
  • Understand how to calculate project feasibility and rate of returns
  • Able to develop and present business case and justifications
